White Ribbon Scotland's Lead Project Worker Rebekah MacLeod on BBC Scotland News at 7

Rebekah MacLeod, Project Lead at White Ribbon Scotland, recently appeared on BBC Scotland’s News at Seven alongside the head of Women’s Aid. The panel analyzed the Scottish Government’s latest commitments to tackling violence against women and girls, including expanding the ‘Fund to Leave’ pilot and trialing GPS monitoring for domestic abuse offenders on bail.
While welcoming these reactive measures, the panel stressed the urgent need for a stronger focus on primary prevention. MacLeod emphasized that lasting cultural change requires structured, community-led frameworks that directly engage men and boys to break the cycle of violence before it starts.
Reflecting on the broadcast, Rebekah noted, “It was really great that White Ribbon Scotland was able to talk about the importance of prevention, and what the government needs to do to ensure that we’re doing that effectively.”
