Building on their award to White Ribbon Scotland Status in 2024, Network Rail arranged for White Ribbon Scotland to be the sole charity at the recent Inspiration Train events Glasgow Central, and in the bigger, Waverley Station event.
As the Inspiration Train arrived in both stations, White Ribbon Scotland were privileged to have places in the equality market places set up on the concourses. As always is the case at Scotland’s Railway events, we had great interactions with the public and with staff of Network Rail, Scotrail and the British Transport Police. We collected over 250 pledge signatures and introduced many people to our work and purpose.

Train driver Heather Waugh, founder and organiser of the Railway Family Prize Draw and fundraiser visited the White Ribbon Scotland stall in Glasgow Central Station during the Inspiration Train event. Heather raises money each year through her prize draw and fundraiser the length of the British Isles, and this year we were extremely honoured to receive a sizable donation from her efforts.
Our thanks go to Heather, who’s efforts will greatly help White Ribbon Scotland in our work to end violence against women.

Alan was among lots of senior management of both Network Rail and Scotrail who visited the stall at both Glasgow and Edinburgh Waverley. All of our days were so very busy that we didn’t get photos of everyone.
For a glorious short time, White Ribbon Scotland had its own piper at the stall in Edinburgh Waverley!

While in Edinburgh we got an invitation to speak at Edinburgh Castle in future so watch this space.
