White Ribbon FC vs Dundee Football Legends

Wednesday 18th April, Riverside Pitch, 6pm

Footballers in Tayside are donning their boots again in preparation for the second meeting of a White Ribbon Select and Dundee FC and Dundee United FC Football Legends.

Supporters of the White Ribbon Scotland Campaign and Tayside Police are again joining forces to take on some of the finest players to play for Dundee's professional football clubs. These men have all pledged to speak out against violence against women and are taking part in this match to raise awareness of the White Ribbon campaign.

Last year's match was closely competed with the Legends Team's experience securing them a 4-2 victory. With more players coming forward to participate in this year's event, and with more supporters to cheer them on, we are looking forward to a fun afternoon down at the Riverside Football Pitches.

Prizes are up for grabs for local children and young people at mini-games which will be taking place during the match. We look forward to welcoming many of Tayside's young football fans as White Ribbon Scotland's newest supporters.

After delivering an educational programme to almost all S3's in Dundee during last winter's 16 Days of Action to End Violence Against Women we were encouraged by the enthusiasm amongst Dundee's youth to say no to violence and gender inequality. We want this message to filter down to even younger members of the community, encouraged by their football icons to wear a white ribbon and pledge 'not to commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women'.

Organised in partnership by White Ribbon Scotland, Dundee Violence Against Women Partnership, Tayside Police and AM Soccer Schools this event is another one in a series of White Ribbon events in Dundee. We look forward to seeing a big turn out for the match - if you would like to come along or support the event in any way you can contact White Ribbon Scotland (07563 774 525) or Dundee Violence Against Women Partnership on 01382 433 683.
