Scottish Prison Service staff trained

After a promising response to sessions delivered by trained speakers in HMP Dumfries last year, White Ribbon Scotland has trained three groups prison service staff throughout Scotland.

After taking part in Speaker Training last year, two staff members at HMP Dumfries delivered sessions firstly for staff and then for inmates. Feedback from both groups was positive, with over 30 inmates taking the White Ribbon pledge with some stating that they would look to encourage respect amongst peers, and challenge inappropriate behaviour and language in future.

We look forward to hearing similar positive reports later in the year once sessions are delivered to inmates - thanks to all those who took part in this training run, and we look forward to training more staff in the near future.
