I want to help end men's violence against women because... as in my late teens I experienced domestic violence - both physical and mental. This was a very traumatic time in my life, and although it was some years ago it still affects my life today. I now can not understand how and why I ended up in such a situation, and why I did not move out and leave my partner earlier. However, at the time I was a very young, very frightened person. In the end I left after I gave birth to my son, who is celebrating his 18th birthday today! I wanted my son to experience a happy childhood, and have a happy, carefree Mum. Although he grew up without his Father, I do believe that this was the right decision to make for both him and I. I hate to think of other women in the situation that I was in - it was such an unhappy and lonely existence x
